Day 75. My Birthday with Dolphins!

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday to me! So I had the best birthday, complete with a dolphin themed cupcake tier and in honor of the most ridiculously funny b-day cake ever, I've made this piece from photos of the dolphin candles and cupcake decorations.  Only in North Carolina...Thanks Aunt Marcia!

Day 73. Beautiful 70degree day at the Outer Banks

Woke up this morning and had my coffee overlooking the ocean while watching some pelicans look for food.  A little later, Nicolas and I went for a walk down the beach, some of these pictures are from that walk.  I found lots of beautiful shells, got my feet wet, and soaked up the sun (even got a sunburn!)  We spent the day learning how to laze about... The sun just set over the sound, also pictured above.  What a wonderful day!

Day 72. Abstract driving pics

Day 2 of Driving, 9 hours and 2 hours of visiting.  Finnaly at the Outer Banks now with Wi-Fi...  I really like these abstract motion blurry images.

Day 71. Last of Fall in Michigan...a day late

Spent the morning in Michigan and enjoyed the last of fall before getting in the car for 13.5 hours.  Sorry it's a day late with posting, but there wasn't Wi-Fi in the car or at my grandma's house in Morganton, NC.

Day 70. Full Moon over Michigan

Today is the 1st day of my vacation! Yea! We took a train to Indiana where my dad picked us up and we drove to Michigan.  On the road I noticed the full moon.  It was low in the sky and SOOO BIG. okay not quite this big, but it was huge.  Tomorrow we leave for North Carolina...more vacation work to come over the next ten days...stay tuned.

Day 68. Found these car photos

Looking for something else yesterday, I happened upon these photos I took at a car museum.  So I decided to start my "sweet rides" project again.  Look for more to come out soon.
This hood ornament was on a vintage Lincoln around 1935-7...I think

Day 58. Conrad Frieberg Inspired

Tonight I found myself at an artist talk, Conrad Frieberg on his plans for the art he's going to make as an artist in residence at the Hyde Park Art Center.  It came up in conversation that distraction can be considered art.  He mentioned the solitare dart game he invented as example.  The dart board itself becomes a piece of art as various holes are made and paint chips away and the blackboard where he keeps track becomes a work of art as well; the residue of chalk and various pictograms refrencing scores and players which if saved could later become a curosity for the archeologist to unveil.  It is in this vein that I show to you my latest work, Various Distractions.

Day 56. Working on a quilt piece

Last February or so I started this quilt project, I cut all the triangles and organized them into patterns and then forgot about it.  The pieces sat on top of my cabinet ever since.  Until today...I decided to sew them together.  So here is one finished pattern (except for the batting quilting and I need to put the back on.  It's going to be 1 of 2 throw pillows.  At 25" sq. it's a BIG pillow!  But I am very proud since this is only my 2nd attempt at quilting...P.S.  the center square is made of fabric I took from favorite clothing I had to retire.
